Jyoti Cero to make and market 'idlers' for Tata Steel
By Arindam Sinha Indian Express Finance

Jyoti Cero group which has in association with Tata Steel (TATASTL.BO :605.3 +9.95) innovatively developed several products which give longer life to components under severe wear and tear conditions in the manufacturing process, is now set to manufacture and market 'hybrid idlers', the result of their latest joint effort.
Idlers, in a conveyor belt application, support and protect the belt and carry the load that rides on it. Though conveyor idlers are among the least expensive components of a conveyor system, their protection function is one of the most critical.
According to Manoj Kumar, CEO, Jyoti Cero group, the 'hybrid idler' his group has jointly developed with Tata Steel, and whose patent has been filed jointly by them with the steel major, guarantees a 10-fold increase in life over the normal one available in the market.
"It is an arrangement where Jyoti Cerro will manufacture and market the unique product, 'hybrid idlers'; Tata Steel has given us the clearances required to produce this patented product which has been an outcome of our joint efforts," Kumar told FE.
Tata Steel, he said, was already using the product (hybrid idlers) and have shown interest in using it more extensively across the Tata group.
"The financial arrangements would be clarified during signing of an MoU," said Kumar.
Prior to a formal flagging off of its mass production unit for 'hybrid idlers' at Adityapur near here on Monday, Jyoti Cero has already produced and supplied to the steel major's conveyor systems around 1,000 'hybrid idlers'.
With Tata Steel as its initial customer, Jyoti Cero would be producing around 6,000 hybrid idlers a month.
"As soon as we get the market (for hybrid idlers) we will enhance our capacity which can go up to 50,000 pieces per month," said Kumar.
Though Tata Steel happens to be its main customer today, the group has been also supplying its products to companies like Paul Wurth (into blast furnaces), Sandvik India (into material handling), Essar Steel, Ispat group, SAIL (SAIL.NS : 201.65 -0.4), Mecon, etc.
